They married on 10th April 1959 in Japan, Tokyo. Their engagement was announced on 27th November 1958, and official ceremony was on 14th January 1959.
The couple have two sons and a daughter: Naruhito, 126th Emperor of Japan; Fumihito, Prince Akishino, Crown Prince of Japan and Mrs. Sayako Kuroda. Naruhito married Masako on 9th June 1993 and they have a daughter: Aiko, Princess Toshi (born in 2001). Fumihito married on 29th June 1990 with Kiko (they are future Emperer and Empress of Japan) and they have a three children: Mako (born in 1991), Kako (born in 1994) and Hisahito (born in 2006, and he is the next Emperor of Japan). Sayako, former Sayako, Princess Nori married on 15th October 2005 with Yoshiki Kuroda. (Sayako after wedding left the Imperial Family)
